Pay it forward

Recently I was lucky to have won a ’pay it forward’ on Ros’s blog and now I get to play along in the pay it forward.

I will make something special for three people who comment on this post, and those commenters can do their own “Pay it forward” on their blog.

I’ve just loved creating these cards using some new nesties and stamps I purchased recently as well as some diecuts (how cute are those trees?)

The gift of poetry. We went and visited Jason’s Nanna on Monday and each time we see her we’re saddened by her decline further and further into alzheimers. This time she has lost weight and no longer wears her teeth. She can’t talk really at all other than a few simple words that are hard to understand and we’re unsure if she knows who we are. She sat pretty quietly the whole time we were there, however when Jason and his Mum started reciting poetry to her a light clicked on inside. Her eyes got wider and she started moving her mouth trying to say the words. The more they got into a rhythm with the poem the more she came alive. It was a poem Nanna had taught Jason as a youngester called ‘The green eye of the little yellow god’
It was such a beautiful, yet teary moment.

And lastly, I’m getting one of these!
I’ve purchased the bottom left one with the 2 gorgeous babushka dolls. These of course were created by the lovely and talented Kate Mason, if you want to purchase a Kate original you can check them out on her blog here. I can’t wait to have this hanging in my home!

So quiet

Shayla headed off to Grade 6 camp this morning and now the house is so quiet! Not that she’s very noisy, but there’s no squabbling going on!!LOL Here are a couple of pics of her before she got on the bus

Jason’s work got cancelled, so he was able to see her off too!

We miss her already! She’s gone down to Boonah, south of Ipswich, so she’ll probably be freezing to death!!!!!

How cute is this little foxy stamp?? I totally scraplifted this card from the very talented Kelly Booth. Just love Kelly’s work, go check out her blog. I also was the lucky receipent of a blog win on Kelly’s blog a few weeks ago and she sent me heaps of goodies!!! I felt very spoilt, thanks Kelly, and I even got a Kelly original card and here it is (isn’t it gorgeous!!)

And lastly, here is a layout I did of Shayla a couple of weeks ago. We’d curled her hair this day, but it was a couple of years ago when she first had her ’spacer’ put in her mouth and it created this big gap in her teeth. It really changed the whole shape of her mouth.

This crazy weather

Just 2 days ago we were fishing all day in the beautiful sunshine just across from Caloundra on the tip of Bribie Island, the kids even swam in the water and today it’s so cold I’ve got a jacket on and my socks and slippers and it hasn’t stopped raining all day!!!!!! Just crazy!!
Yes, Sunday I got to try out my Mothers Day present which was a lovely Alvey combo fishing rod. Here’s a little pic of me with my first catch of the day which was an under sized bream. Not too long after that I caught the biggest catch of the day, again a bream. We caught 8 bream all up and had a yummy feed that night.

Mothers day we tried to head over to Redcliffe with the rest of Brisbane for a picnic, but it was so busy that we couldn’t even get a park, so we head back to our place instead and our Mum’s both came over for lunch.

This past weekend we got to babysit a friends little girl. Her name is Willow and she is a little darling! The kids have been begging me again for a little brother or sister.

Now for a couple of Aussie Scrap Source projects.
This was a fun one, we had to create the cover of our own Autobiography. One of the most difficult challenges I’ve ever done before. This is what I came up with.

I also got to do the fun challenge of scraplifting Kim Archer!!! So much fun!

Biggest blog candy ever – AGAIN

How generous is Debbie, here she goes again with the most amazing blog candy I’ve ever seen! I priced Copic pens at my local Office Works this week and they were $124 for a set of 12 and here Debbie is giving away 36 of them!

Miso soup and Moxie Tampons

This is totally random, but I’m addicted to these little instant misso soup sachets at the moment. They can be bought from Coles (and probably other supermarkets) and are just great for around 3-4pm in the afternoon when you’re getting peckish! Just thought I’d share!

My beautiful friend Leisa from Scrapsidaisy was so kind to allow me to scrap this page about her adorable new baby boy. I loved doing this page, thanks Leisa. (using Crate Paper Lillian)
This was a challenge where the prompt was ‘nobody knows’ and I did this page on Jason’s excitement on finally getting his project car registered. It took 4 years to get this baby on the road! (number plate blanked out for obvious reasons)

The following 2 cards where for the last 2 challenges on the Hero Arts blog. This first one was a marathon card for me, took me so long – I’m a very simple card creator normally! I bought a heat gun and played around with ink pools and all sorts of things on this card, you can read more about it here

Now, you’re probably wondering about the title, well, I finally altered my Moxie tampon and panty liner containers and made holders for little sets of gift/note cards. These containers were too cute not to alter and the Doll stamps from Hero Arts were perfect for the tiny cards!

Edited to add – our new family member – My nephew Oliver, born 26th April. He’s making me so clucky!

Easter catch up

Oh gosh, I’ve been getting a bit slack with my blog lately – just haven’t had the inclination to update, but would prefer just to be creating. I’ve been loving the weekly challenges on the Hero Arts blog here’s a couple I’ve done over the past 2 weeks.
This challenge was to stamp on something other than paper or cardstock. I made this cute little Hot Cross Bun basket from felt and stamped onto the felt and onto ribbon

The next two were for the ‘my message’ challenge where we had to put together our own sentiment that isn’t already a hero arts stamp.
I really want Hero Arts to design a ‘you rock’ stamp, so I did that for my first attempt

And this was my second attempt (this card is for Jason, just because!)

I had the chance to work with the lovely new Zinnia range by Little Yellow Bicycle, such fabulous colours in this range and absolutely gorgeous embellishments!
I found this baby photo of Shayla (I can’t believe I ever allowed her to be posed like this in a pot!LOL) and it matched the papers perfectly.

I have to show you a close up of these products, just delicious!

And we survived Shayla’s disco party – only just! Gosh 11 year girls can be energetic and noisy!!!LOL

A layout I did for a challenge over at the Hero Arts blog, we had to be inspired by one of the girls who was being featured on the blog and I was inspired by Kiara Lee

Also on the Hero Arts blog this week is a ‘one layer’ challenge. I’ve done the following 2 cards for the challenge. You could put as many embellishments onto the card, but just one cardstock base, no pattern paper layers etc.

Not a lot else happening around here. My sister is coming home tomorrow for a few days, will be lovely to see her. We’re busy getting ready for Shayla’s 11th b’day disco this Friday night. It’s her actual b’day on Good Friday and it was Good Friday the year she was born, so we decided to have her party then, knowing full well that people might have Easter plans, which it turns out quite a few people do. But that’s ok, there’s still about 10 girls coming. I might be thanking my lucky stars that they all couldn’t make it after the night is over!

We booked our campervan for our New Zealand trip the other day, we decided for the little bit extra that we’d go with the 6 Berth van (here’s a little pic)
We love that this van has the extra seats behind the driver seat, so we can have the kids in closer range and also we can leave the back bed folded down some days instead of packing it away each morning.
