Recently I was lucky to have won a ’pay it forward’ on Ros’s blog and now I get to play along in the pay it forward.
I’ve already created the following 3 little gift card sets to send to the names I draw out.

I’ve just loved creating these cards using some new nesties and stamps I purchased recently as well as some diecuts (how cute are those trees?)
The gift of poetry. We went and visited Jason’s Nanna on Monday and each time we see her we’re saddened by her decline further and further into alzheimers. This time she has lost weight and no longer wears her teeth. She can’t talk really at all other than a few simple words that are hard to understand and we’re unsure if she knows who we are. She sat pretty quietly the whole time we were there, however when Jason and his Mum started reciting poetry to her a light clicked on inside. Her eyes got wider and she started moving her mouth trying to say the words. The more they got into a rhythm with the poem the more she came alive. It was a poem Nanna had taught Jason as a youngester called ‘The green eye of the little yellow god’
It was such a beautiful, yet teary moment.

And lastly, I’m getting one of these!
I’ve purchased the bottom left one with the 2 gorgeous babushka dolls. These of course were created by the lovely and talented Kate Mason, if you want to purchase a Kate original you can check them out on her blog here. I can’t wait to have this hanging in my home!
Aloha, Chris!
I don’t have a blog so don’t count me in for the draw but I just wanted to comment on your adorable gift card sets! Love them!! On a more somber note, my advice for Nanna is to
play a lot of music for her. It does wonders for Alzheimer’s and/or dementia patients and I can attest to the fact. It will brighten Nanna’s day and those around her as well! Hugs!
What gorgeous cards Chris and what a lovely idea to pay it forward. I adore the butterfly ones – just got that set so will be doing some of my own. What a lovely thing for Jason that his Nanna perked up with the poetry. It is very sad to see the oldies in our lives fading away. Make the most of what time is left. Love the goodies from Kate. Quite amazing.
Hi Chris!
Lovely to find the way to your blog – great inspiration!
These gift set are awesome! Especially the circlecards!!!
Greetings from Denmark – Sanne
Isn’t it so sad to see a loved one who has alzheimers.
No need to count me in the PIF.
Chris.. Those sets are so wonderful! Wow! Sorry about Nanna… Glad there was some bonding during the visit with the poetry.
Oh my Chris….your little gift packs of cards are sooooo adorable….who wouldn’t want to win them! I’m sorry to read about Jason’s nanna….such a terrible condition. Sounds like the poem worked its magic though.
Enjoy the weekend and the run down to holidays….yippee:-)
Chris, you don’t have to include me in the PIF draw but I did want to say your creations are stunning.
There will be 3 very lucky winners.
It’s so hard to see our loved ones suffering from Alzheimer’s and the loss of memory. Peter’s last remaining nana has it and it is so heartbreaking to realise that she probably doesn’t remember us but as Peter said his memories of his nana are still alive in him and thats what matters.
Its beautiful that poetry can speak so strongly to her, cherish the memories you have of her and remember these memories. Thats is what I have to do with Peter’s nana.
What a sweet idea, to pay it forward! I love the cards you made; no need to include me in the drawing, just want to peek at your blog! The story of reading a poem to “nana” touched me. I have read that familiar music can also reach those suffering from Alzheimer’s. Take care!
Chris, I can so identify with you in regards to Jason’s nanna. We had the same experience with my grandma and it was so sad. Now I am beginning to see these early signs in my own mum.
Love seeing your work – love your little gift packs also – how gorgeous, Love the idea of paying it forward too.
Chris, your gift card sets are so adorable. Loved the film “Pay It Forward” and love your idea. Thanks for the chance to win them. Even if I don’t win you have already paid it forward to me by giving me the idea for the cute sets and reminding me of paying it forward. Best wishes from Ireland.
Beautiful cards Chris and what a great idea to pay it forward!
Christ what lovley gift sets and a great idea to PIF.
My husbands grandad had this disease too.
Best wishes to you all
Chris…your little card sets are so cute!! Sorry about your Nana…My Dad died of Alzheimer’s and I know how hard it is…
thanks for sharing her story!
Love the picture you purchased…might have to go check those out!!!
Your cards are wonderful. Love all the sets.
My mother has Alzheimer’s and it’s so sad.
Dear Chris,
I always enjoy viewing your creations. You have a BIG heart AND a creative brain!!! I love your discussion threads and now you are doing this Pay it Forward. ANOTHER fantastic idea! I love to be part of it and thank you for all you do!
Hi Chris,
Love seeing what you have created. The idea of paying it forward is very appealing to me and very generous of you. Sorry about Jason’s Nanna; the poetry story really touched me.
lovely little sets Chris. You are awesome!
Those little gift cards are VERY cute. Love the little trees with the embossed dots on them. Enjoy your Kate Mason original as well when it arrives and you can find a lovely place in your home to display it.
